Kauai firefighters extinguish 600-acre brush fire
Kauai firefighters extinguished a large brush fire in Kaumakani on Wednesday.
The fire that scorched nearly 600 acres of land owned by Gay & Robinson broke out shortly before 1 p.m. Firefighters extinguished the blaze at about 4 p.m.
Ground crews and the Fire Department’s Air One helicopter responded to the fire. The landowner also provided water trucks and other equipment to help firefighters control the blaze.
Personnel from Gay & Robinson will remain at the scene overnight with water tankers to monitor the area for any hot spots or flare-ups.
