Police look for couple in Hawaii island robbery

Hawaii County police are looking for a man and a woman who allegedly robbed a 32-year-old Volcano man in Kurtistown and stole his pickup truck Wednesday.

Police said the Volcano man was parked on the side of the road when a large white Chevrolet pickup truck pulled up behind the victim’s truck shortly after 2 p.m. Wednesday.

The woman got out and started a conversation with the victim, then jumped into the driver’s side of his truck and allegedly threatened him with a knife, police said.

The Chevy driver allegedly got out and threatened the victim with a garden tool, police said.

The stolen truck is a beige 1987 Toyota single-cab pickup, license plate NGB 002, with a black bumper with a winch and PIAA lights.

The male suspect is described as large, standing about 6 feet 3 inches to 6 feet 4 inches tall.

The woman has curly, shoulder-length hair, police said.

Anyone with information about their whereabouts or the location of the stolen truck is asked to call police at 935-3311. Anonymous calls may be made to CrimeStoppers at 961-8300.
