Hank's Haute Dogs in Kakaako is closing as redevelopment construction continues around the store.

Hank’s Haute Dogs will close its Kakaako location at 324 Coral Street after service on August 14, to make way for redevelopment.

Kamehameha Schools’ SALT project will cause the relocation of Hank’s, run by Mobil star-winning chef Hank Adaniya, to a new, next-door building later this summer, according to a statement.

“When I came to Kakaako, there was not much around, and look around now, cranes everywhere,” Adaniya said, in the statement. “We’ve had a lot of good years in this shop with plenty of fond memories, so it’s sad to be moving out.”

The restaurant space formerly had housed, among other casual restaurants, Rainbow Drive-in Express and Tom’s Place.

Adaniya’s Mobil stars, displayed in a case above and to the left of the cash register, were earned for his famed restaurant Trio, in Chicago. The restaurant was a launching point for several noteworthy chefs who went on to their own fame.

Hank’s will continue operating during its regular hours until its scheduled closing time at 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 14.

A reopening date for the new location nearby has not yet been determined.
