Three-alarm fire damages second floor of Kalihi warehouse

A three-alarm fire heavily damaged about a quarter of the second floor of a Kalihi warehouse Monday afternoon.

The first Fire Department unit arrived at 1:37 p.m. to find the two-story Wholesale Equipment warehouse, 2522 Rose St., with smoke coming from from the second floor. The fire was brought under control at 2:12 p.m. and extinguished at 2:42 p.m.

A person in the warehouse was treated and transported to a hospital by Emergency Medical Services for smoke inhalation

Fire personnel evacuated two elderly residents when their neighboring home was inundated by smoke.

The origin and cause of the fire is under investigation and the damage estimate is not available, firefighters said.
