Hawaii Medical Service Association’s chief financial officer is leaving the state’s largest health insurer.

"Steve Van Ribbink, who reached his 20th anniversary with HMSA in May, has decided to retire from HMSA by the end of this year," said HMSA spokeswoman Elisa Yadao. "Steve believes that life should be a series of adventures that should be fully enjoyed and is planning to enjoy his next adventure wherever it takes him and his family."

HMSA said it has shifted the responsibilities of its current executive team "in response to Steve’s pending departure."
