High surf advisory in effect for south shores
A south swell generated by a low-pressure system near New Zealand prompted forecasters at the National Weather Service to issue a high surf advisory for the south-facing shores of all islands.
Forecasters expect surf up to 5 to 8 feet. The advisory is in effect through 6 p.m. Friday.
Beachgoers, swimmers and surfers should heed advice from ocean safety officials and exercise caution.
