Kailua-Kona man charged with backpack, moped theft
Hawaii County police charged a 25-year-old Kailua-Kona man with probation violation and theft.
Police arrested Tevita Afu at 4:20 a.m. Wednesday in Holualoa and charged him with violating probation. Afu appeared in court this morning for probation violation and was being held without bail.
He was later charged with two counts of theft for taking a backpack from a Kailua-Kona property on Kuakini Highway on July 8 and for stealing a moped theft July 8 on Walua Road in Kailua-Kona.
His bail was set at $20,000 for those offenses, and he is scheduled to appear in court Thursday on the theft charges.
