Hawaii County police today charged a 21-year-old Captain Cook man who allegedly stole a car and items from a Kailua-Kona home on Sunday.

Kolton Bannister was charged with unauthorized control of a propelled vehicle, burglary, unauthorized possession of personal confidential information and two counts of theft. Bail was set at $6,750.

Police said a 2004 Audi sedan and other items were stolen Sunday from a locked garage at a home on Halemau Street.

On Monday, a patrol officer saw the Audi at a home on the 85-4500 block of Mamalahoa Highway in Captain Cook, police said. Police arrested Bannister and recovered the car.
