Big Island police investigating crash involving Hele-On bus
Hawaii County police are investigating an accident on a Hele-On public bus Tuesday night that sent a 60-year-old Pahoa man to the hospital.
A witness told the Honolulu Star-Advertiser that the injury occurred because the bus driver of the Pahoa-bound Hele-On bus 705 intentionally slammed on the brakes to injure a man who a witness said was drunk.
A Big Island police spokeswoman said police are investigating the incident that occurred on Highway 130 at 7:53 p.m. where the Pahoa man was taken to Hilo Medical Center with minor head injuries and was released this morning.
No arrests were made.
About 11 people were on the bus and had to be transferred to another bus.
