A Pennsylvania man with HIV was sentenced on Wednesday to 33 to 66 months in prison for having unprotected sex with three women without telling them about his condition, the second time he has been imprisoned for the offense.

The man, Ricky Webster, 26, of Wilson, Pennsylvania, pleaded guilty to nine counts of reckless endangerment and will also face two years of probation. He expressed remorse at his sentencing in Northampton County, Pennsylvania, but Senior Judge Leonard N. Zito was unmoved.

“This ranks among the most cowardly of human acts,” Zito said, according to The Morning Call. “What he did, what Ricky Webster did, was to steal the lives of these young girls.”

Attempts on Thursday to reach Webster’s attorney, Matthew Potts, were unsuccessful. A woman who answered the phone at a number listed in his father’s name declined to comment.

The three women have not tested positive for infection with the virus that causes AIDS, but the testing period has not expired, according to Lehigh Valley Live.

In 2010, Webster was sentenced to four years in prison for not telling two sexual partners, including a 15-year-old girl, that he had the virus. He similarly expressed remorse during the 2010 sentencing, The Star-Ledger reported at the time. He ended up serving about two years before being paroled, The Morning Call reported.

As a 14-year-old, he was featured in a 2004 CNN report about children living with HIV. Webster was born with the virus and adopted at seven weeks, CNN reported.

“I just say, you know, what you’ve had to go through, you would never want to give this to someone else,” his mother, Kathie Webster, said in the CNN report.

In the most recent sexual encounters, one woman asked if there was any reason they would need to use a condom, and Webster responded “No,” according to The Morning Call.

In court, Webster described the women as friends. Two of them were his co-workers.

“I was struck in the moment,” Webster said, according to The Morning Call. “It was just a stupid thing not to say anything.”

He said he was having problems in his relationship with his girlfriend, who was pregnant, and “it just felt good to be appreciated by somebody else.”
