Colosseum ‘all clear’ after evacuation over suspicious item

LAS VEGAS » Las Vegas police say a suspicious item that prompted an evacuation of the Colosseum auditorium at the Caesars Palace casino turned out not to be a threat.

Officer Jesse Roybal said police declared the situation “all clear” at about 3:30 p.m. today, about half an hour after they were called to the scene. He didn’t have details on the nature of the item or why it was considered suspicious.

The Colosseum is hosting events this week for the movie industry convention Cinemacon. The evacuation happened during a screening of the forthcoming movie “Now You See Me 2.”

The venue holds more than 4,000 people.

Caesars Entertainment spokeswoman Jennifer Forkish described the evacuation as orderly and said it was done “out of an abundance of caution.”
