Police search for stolen car with officer’s rifle, stun gun
Police were searching for a police officer’s personal car that was stolen in Makiki today with the officer’s supplemental rifle, electric gun, and other police equipment inside, a Honolulu Police Department spokeswoman said.
The white two-door 2000 Honda Civic with license plates JGC 937 was stolen about noon from a Makiki parking garage.
Anyone with information is asked to call 911 or CrimeStoppers.
HPD policy requires that officers exercise extreme care and caution in storing weapons and other equipment, the spokeswoman said. HPD is looking into the incident.

Regarding the safe storage of firearms, this could be a case of “Do as I say, not as I do.”
Also, I do not see any point about bring coy about what kind of weapons were stolen along with the car. If the weapons were an AR-15 or any of its clones, and a Taser or any of its clones, then just say so. An “electric gun” could just as well be a battery powered airsoft toy. If the intent is to minimize any embarrassment to HPD, then why bother? It’s only one more isn’t it?
