Outrage and fear fuel continuing anti-Trump protests

Hundreds of protesters traveled through downtown Portland streets Friday night while others converged at an intersection, not budging as police told them the activity amounted to unlawful assembly.
PORTLAND, Ore. >> Spurred by fear and outrage, protesters around the country rallied and marched Friday as they have done daily since Donald Trump’s presidential election victory.
In Portland, Oregon, rowdy protests continued for a second night as hundreds of people took to the streets. Police used flash-bang grenades in an effort to disperse the crowd. Some protesters spray-painted graffiti and threw items at officers. Authorities said vandalism and assault had taken place during the rally, which organizers had billed as peaceful earlier in the day.
There were also spirited demonstrations on college campuses and along downtown streets were mostly peaceful following previous outbreaks of window-smashing and fire-setting.
Evening marches disrupted traffic in Miami and Atlanta.
Trump supporter Nicolas Quirico was traveling from South Beach to Miami. His car was among hundreds stopped when protesters blocked Interstate 395.
“Trump will be our president. There is no way around that, and the sooner people grasp that, the better off we will be,” he said. “There is a difference between a peaceful protest and standing in a major highway backing up traffic for 5 miles. This is wrong.”
Hundreds of protesters took to the streets across California after night fell including downtown Los Angeles, where over 200 were arrested a night earlier. In Bakersfield, where Trump is far more popular than in most of the state, some held signs reading “Anti-Trump, Pro-USA.”
Small protests also were held in Detroit; Minneapolis; Kansas City, Missouri; Olympia, Washington and Iowa City.
Hundreds joined an afternoon “love rally” in Washington Square Park in Manhattan.
Leslie Holmes, 65, a website developer from Wilton, Connecticut, took an hour-long train ride to the demonstration — her first protest since the 1970s, when she hit the streets of San Francisco to oppose the Vietnam War.
She described herself as an armchair liberal but declared, “I’m not going to be armchair anymore.”
“I don’t want to live in a country where my friends aren’t included, and my friends are fearful, and my children are going to grow up in a world that’s frightening, and my granddaughters can look forward to being excluded from jobs and politics and fulfilling their potential, so I’m here for them,” she said.
More than 200 people, carrying signs gathered on the steps of the Washington state Capitol. The group chanted “not my president” and “no Trump, no KKK, no fascist USA.”
In Tennessee, Vanderbilt University students sang civil rights songs and marched through campus across a Nashville street, temporarily blocking traffic. A protest also occurred in Minneapolis.
In Chicago, multiple groups planned protests through Saturday.
Nadia Gavino, 25, learned about the rallies on Twitter and protested Thursday evening. Gavino, whose father is from Peru and whose mother is of Mexican and Lithuanian heritage, said she took Trump’s harshest statements about immigrants and Latinos personally.
“I obviously agree that he’s racist, he’s sexist, he’s phobic, he’s misogynistic. He’s all these things you don’t want in a leader,” she said.
Ashley Lynne Nagel, 27, said she joined a Thursday night demonstration in Denver.
“I have a leader I fear for the first time in my life,” said Nagel, a Bernie Sanders supporter who voted for Hillary Clinton.
“It’s not that we’re sore losers,” she said. “It’s that we are genuinely upset, angry, terrified that a platform based off of racism, xenophobia and homophobia has become so powerful and now has complete control of our representation.”
Demonstrations also were planned Saturday in Las Vegas, Los Angeles and other areas.
Previous demonstrations drew thousands of people in New York and other large urban centers. The largely peaceful demonstrations were overshadowed by sporadic episodes of vandalism, violence and street-blocking.

What a bunch of maroons! So much for “peace” and “tolerance”. Some are calling for a revolution, yet they’re anti-gun. How you gonna fight a revolution without guns? Bunch of bongs and sticks? People never cease to amaze me. 🙁
Smashing windows, setting fires, blocking traffic and throwing anything at police is not demonstrating or protesting – it is law breaking, and those who engage in such actions should be arrested immediately. Cut them no slack.
anyone seeing bus convoys parked nearby staging areas for “spontaneous” local protests should take photos of the buses and license plates.
crossing state lines to incite riots is a federal crime. bus and transportation logs can determine if buses crossed state lines with professional agitators involved in “spontaneous’ riots.
with a new president and new director of f.b.i. investigations into the funding and of soros’ and the female felon’s brown shirt mercenaries crossing state lines to commit riots will be properly investigated and prosecuted if necessary.
I am looking forward to justice too.

the strange thing about the protests is that trump does not have strong positions on many issues mentioned by soros’ and the female felon’s paid protestors.
trump is not a career politician and there may be many issues in which he will be willing to compromise as a result. he was pretty much silent on many issues while campaigning.
obamacare is an example. he wants national health coverage, just not one that brings overwhelming financial burden to americans. he indicated that there are some features of obama care that he may retain while amending health care for all americans.
republicans may find themselves on the short end with trump on the other side of many issues dear to their party. who knows?
we should wait and see before rioting and demonizing the president elect.

In 1944, 18 year olds were putting themselves in harms way for our country. Look at these kids. Throwing tantrums because their candidate lost. Perhaps they should be venting their anger at the DNC for plotting Sanders downfall.
Since the elections, every article from the AP (notice no name all the time) sounds like a guide to incite MORE riots. Yet no response from the Democrat leaders, Obama, Hillary even from the States where these scabs are rioting(not protesting) to stop this insanity. Property damage, vehicle damage, traffic disruptions, 3 known beatings to date with no end in sight, yet, crickets. If these scabs keep it up it will ensure a Trump 2nd term. all these brainwashed protesters all say this has to do with immigration that the media tells them all these lies and they believe it brainwashed to the max, trump is talking about illegal immigration with all these criminals and terrorist coming across the border , don’t these dumm__s know the difference between legal immigration and illegal immigration, they should all just grow up.
Outrage and fear? It looks more like ignorance and silliness. These protesters should have put that much energy into getting the word and more importantly the Vote out for their candidate of choice.
What I fear and these people should fear and be outraged about is: The country’s future and actual the whole world is not threatened by Trump but threatened by a human avalanche of overpopulaterers. They are polluting USA, Canada, Europe, Australia with their invasion with the result that the few good countries become the same living hell as all the others.
The AP helped set the stage for these demonstrations now it “reports” on them using the playbook it helped produce. A losing playbook. AP disgraced itself and disrespected over half of the population, who were not influenced by the AP and others in on the scam. Trump not only defeated the corrupt Clintons but he beat the Mainstream Media, which AP is a leading element of. That is what is disgusting and un-American. The Dems need to find another narrative as their false narrative failed to convince the citizenry even as it was promoted by the likes of AP.

If you are going to use the term protest, it should be within the confines of safe, calculated and legal protests.
Some people like yourself may condone their actions, while some are just too uneducated to know the difference.
