A decorated pineapple was spotted at the Christmas Day Diamond Head Classic college basketball tournament at Stan Sheriff Center, where the Rainbow Warriors came out of a losing streak to beat Southern Mississippi, 60-46.

Maemae Elementary School students marveled at the pile of toys and other gifts Tuesday during a school assembly to collect presents that will be donated to the Laulima Giving Project for local charities. The kids used money earned by doing chores to buy the presents.

An overflow crowd showed up to hear Jesse Shiroma (accordion, percussion), left, Chaz Umamoto, (guitar, ukulele), Jonathon Franklin (violin) and Brian Webb (cello). The group performs tonight at Blue Note Hawaii and Saturday at the halftime show of the Hawaii Bowl.

Honolulu Star-Advertiser's Subscriber Donation Program raised $100,000 for it's 2016 beneficiary, YMCA of Honolulu. The SDP gives readers the option to donate to a selected charity via the Star-Advertiser when they pay for their subscriptions. The Program launched in 2011 and has since donated hundreds of thousands of dollars to various local non-profit organizations. More than 450 employees gathered Monday evening outside Bank of Hawaii's main branch in Honolulu for the fifth annual Bankoh Tree Lighting Celebration and check presentation. Chairman, President and CEO Peter Ho presented a check during the event to 22 nonprofit organizations on behalf of bank employees and retirees, who raised a record-breaking $678,091.

Christina Souza performed on stage in Hangar 79 at the "For Love of Country-Pass It On" gala held at the Pacific Aviation Museum on Saturday evening. About 1,400 guests attended the event honoring World War II and Pearl Harbor survivors. It featured live entertainment, a live auction, participants dressed in 1940s attire, museum aircraft displays and special guests Gary Sinise and David Hartman. The fundraising gala was the opening event for the 75th Commemoration of the Pearl Harbor attack and marked the 10th anniversary for the Pacific Aviation Museum.

The aircraft carrier USS John C. Stennis pulled into Pearl Harbor on Friday morning for the 75th anniversary of the attack, with sailors manning the rails, saluting the USS Arizona Memorial, the sunken battleship below and its 1,177 crewmen who died Dec. 7, 1941, in bombing by Japanese naval forces. The Stennis got underway from Bremerton, Wash., on Nov. 22 to conduct routine training and participate in National Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day events.
