President-elect Donald Trump spoke during a Dec. 15 rally at the Giant Center, in Hershey, Pa. Trump ditched his press pool once again, traveling to play golf today at one of his clubs without a pool of journalists on hand to ensure the public has knowledge of his whereabouts.

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. >> President-elect Donald Trump ditched his press pool once again, traveling to play golf at one of his clubs without a pool of journalists on hand to ensure the public has knowledge of his whereabouts.

Before he went golfing today, Trump tweeted an unusual New Year’s message to friends and foes: “Happy New Year to all, including to my many enemies and those who have fought me and lost so badly they just don’t know what to do. Love!”

The president-elect planned to spend New Year’s Eve at his private Mar-a-Lago club in Palm Beach. He was throwing a private party expected to draw hundreds of guests, including action star Sylvester Stallone.

A member of Trump’s golf club in Jupiter, Florida, posted a photo on Twitter of Trump on the greens this morning and said about 25 U.S. Secret Service agents accompanied the president-elect. Reporters had not been advised of the visit to the club.

Transition aide Stephanie Grisham confirmed that Trump had made a “last-minute trip” to Trump National Golf Club Jupiter, which is about a half-hour drive from his Mar-a-Lago estate, where Trump has been spending the holidays. He returned to the estate at midafternoon.

Grisham said that she and other aides weren’t aware of the trip and “appreciate everyone’s understanding.”

“We are in the home stretch of this transition period and don’t anticipate any additional situations like this between now and inauguration,” she said in a statement. “We hope this one incident doesn’t negate all the progress we have made and look forward to continuing the great relationships we have built.”

Trump, both as a candidate and during the transition, has often scoffed at tradition, such as allowing a group of reporters to follow him at all times to ensure the public knows where he is. Not long after his election, Trump went out to dinner with his family in Manhattan without informing the pool of his whereabouts.

The practice is meant to ensure that journalists are on hand to witness, on behalf of the public, the activities of the president or president-elect, rather than relying on secondhand accounts.

The White House also depends on having journalists nearby at all times to relay the president’s first comments on breaking news.

Trump aides appear to have made an effort in recent weeks to offer additional access, allowing reporters to camp out outside a doorway at Mar-a-Lago to document staff and Cabinet candidates’ arrivals and departures. Aides also are providing information about his meeting schedule.

Every president and president-elect in recent memory has traveled with a pool of journalists when leaving the White House grounds. News organizations take turns serving in the small group, paying their way and sharing the material collected in the pool with the larger press corps.

Trump is probably trying out that extra special expensive driver that he received from Prime Minister Abe a few weeks ago.

    • thos says:

One of THE very best things about then-Candidate and now-President-Elect Trump is that he has gone out of his way to make EXACTLY the right enemies, most definitely including our so called (and thoroughly compromised) “news” media.

      Sic em, Trump!

      No prisoners!

      • allie says:

Thos…you are trump’s enemy hon. And even you will see that soon enough. Very sad.

        • cajaybird says:

allie, I try but you’re hard to follow. It’s hard to deny what thos is saying. If you haven’t noticed, record numbers of Democrat politicians have lost their jobs, (over a thousand the past 8 years), because they oppose exactly what Trump has been professing, so it’s not a fluke. You’re out of step with most of America (except for San Francisco, LA, and San Diego, where only after years of immigration they support the Democratic candidates and lots of free goodies).

      • Keonigohan says:

        @ thos
As an Illegal Immigrant would say…CORRECTO MUNDO!
Excited to see what FAKE NEWS personnel will join the 4.9ers..no not San Fran but the Unrmployment Line!
Social media is the NEW COMMUNICATION!!!

        • HanabataDays says:

There is no immigrant in the world who would say “CORRECTO MUNDO” because it’s not a phrase in any language in the world. You’re speaking Pig Spanish, and it’s a disgusting demonstration of how ignorant the Nativist American really is.

As for “FAKE NEWS”, it makes its burrow deep in the muck of social media because it can’t stand the light of day. Actual news the goobs don’t happen to agree with isn’t “FAKE”.

And y’all can keep your 140-character trivialities and oversimplifications. (Heil Twitler!) The real world is much more complex, and reducing it to tweets will merely guarantee political bankruptcy and failure.

      • Vector says:

Trump is going after the media and press in the same way Putin has squelched all political opposition, by arresting, incarcerating journalists, assasinating his political adversaries or making them diappear. HITLER also went so far as to burn books that did not validate his political beliefs. The only press in Russia, Pravda, is just a mouthpiece for Putin. Trump has Fox News to be his propaganda voice and outlet, with support from Steve Bannon’s Neo Nazi Breitbart News. Trump is no friend of the First Amendment of our Constitution. Trump is hostile to the values and principles of freedom of speech, freedom of the press, and freedom of expression enshrined in the First Amendment

        • sarge22 says:

Blah blah blah. Got anything new cricket? Happy New Year

        • allie says:

          very true

        • cajaybird says:

You’re a little over the top. Please read my comment to allie (above). It’s posts like your that fuel people to vote for Republicans. True, you have a lot of support in Hawaii, but HI is out of step, not people like thos.

      • keaukaha says:

Remember no information from the press is no information for the nation and that type of attitude is unacceptable from the PE. His base is responsible for the Chump and need to start holding him accountable but honestly I don’t think he gives a f-ck.

      • jomama says:

Can’t believe that this guy has time for golf with the transition looming.

        • jusris says:

IRT jomama: Just like Obama wasting our money but I don’t hear the ame outcry…Different person same problems, there might be something different but I can’t pinpoint it…#MAGA

      • Eradication says:

You mean the same news media that provided Trump with millions of dollars worth of free press after every idiotic statement he made during the campaign? The same media that could not get enough of Trump because his “drama” filled appearances sold newspapers?

      • HanabataDays says:

        Sic ’em Drumpf!

        Arf, arf, arf!!

  2. 64hoo says:

trump give up the golfing we already have one nut who likes to golf.

  3. Boots says:

This is rich. We have had republicans, etc. complaining about Obama playing a little golf. Now we will have a president who will not only play golf but will own the golf course. I suspect he will replace the white house garden with a putting green. Meet the new boss, far more corrupt and incompetent than the old boss.

  4. wrightj says:

No guessing where he’ll be after Jan. 20

    • thos says:

Of one thing you can be sure.

Unlike the CURRENT occupant of the White House, President Trump will be attending to the business of the nation, not out wasting tax payer money on Broadway show junkets to NYC or lavishly expensive family outings to India, Ireland, &c.

And how nice a change it will be to have a real LADY as our First Lady for a change, one who does not whine andcarry a victims chip on the shoulder at all times.

  5. skinut says:

    Such an immature, petulant buffoon.

  6. eyoshida says:

It’s so strange that the comment section has been taken over by Trump supporters. How many people in Hawaii voted for him? What 5%? And I’m guessing most of them are relocated people from the mainland.

    • sarge22 says:

Very wrong. Donald J. Trump Republican Rep. 128,847 So guess again loser. Trump 2020

    • klastri says:

You’re right. Mr. Trump received the lowest percent of a total state vote in Hawai’i. None of the people who voted for him here made any difference at all.

    • CEI says:

It’s not that there aren’t a whole lot of Trump supporters who would like to comment. The trouble is most of them are still in the fetal position, thumb in mouth and in need of a safe space. They were so sure Waldo would crush Trump and when the opposite happened they regressed to infancy. Some of them sheepishly returned to posting but with a shrillness and lingering anger that seems to build as the days pass.

    • Keonigohan says:

      @ eyoshida
Lucky Crooked hiLIARy got all of Hawaii’s 4 Electoral Votes….woooohoooo

voters in hawaii that voted for clinton made no difference at all.

hawaii’s electoral votes that went to clinton made no difference at all.

trump won the electoral vote by a landslide.

        • Vector says:

Not a landslide. The nation is divided by half and half

        • Keonigohan says:

          @ st1d
          Yup LANDSLIDE!
Dem pundits on Nov 8th was callin Crooked to get 400 Electoral Votes & DJT should concede already…she ended up with 227…a 173 SWING..that’s a HUGE ASTOUNDING SHOCKING LANDSLIDE LOSS! She also had the largest Electoral Switch Votes…7…the largest in history!

          January 20, 2017 #MAGA

        • st1d says:

landslide victory for trump in electoral votes, and clear mandate for republicans who will lead both house and senate.

a complete rejection of obama’s awful legacy of the past eight years and a complete rejection of clinton corruption and promise to continue obama’s failed programs.

        • Keonigohan says:

          @ st1d
Since O took office 1030 Dem seats lost in America. Repudiation of OBAMA!

Happy New Year to all. 2016 has been a wild ride. I just want to express my gratitude to the Star Advertiser for giving readers a forum to engage in mature debate on the issues that affect all of us. It makes for a healthy democracy when the governed participate and show interest in the political process. #MAGA

    Happy New Year
    January 20, 2017 #MAGA

    • Vector says:

Trump’s New Year’s message is just another sneer and a put down of the other half of the electorate that did not vote for him. He is going to have a rough time uniting the two halves of the country when he continues to alienate the 50% who voted against him

      • Keonigohan says:

        And O was a UNITER?!
        WOW!

        January 20. 2017 #MAGA

      • jusris says:

IRT Vector: Correct, for someone who wants to unite America he sure is making it hard for the other half to come around and join him…Obama tried but they rejected him…#MAGA

      • cajaybird says:

Vector: the electorate could not be more divided as it is today. Do you remember the Black caucus standing on the steps of the WH saying hands up, don’t shoot? The administration didn’t refute their actions, even though they knew it was all based on a total lie. I could give many other examples. The net effect is that a ton of Democrats lost their jobs. Trump is a uniter, a business person who could not have accomplished all that he has if he were not one.

  9. lespark says:

Trump can golf and chew gum at the same time, Obama can’t.

  10. fiveo says:

Trump does not need the press corps anyway. They are his enemies and he understands that very well. He is not going to kiss their kesters. They are a bunch of self important
jerks who are all legends in their own minds. I hope he does away with the White House press corps and calls the press in only when necessary. There is no need to have daily
briefs of the White House press corp. Let them dig for their stories rather than having everything handed to them. Bunch of losers and crybabies.

  11. hapaguy says:

The Trump supporters that comment on here are the most brainwashed 1gnorant bunch of people I have ever seen.
    1) Trump did NOT win in an Electoral Landslide. Of the 59 Presidential elections that have taken place in this country there were 45 elections that had greater electoral margins.
    2) Hillary Clinton won the popular vote with approx. 3 MILLION more votes than Trump so no its not a mandate and its not a Republican takeover of the country. More people voted Democrat than Republican THATS A FACT.
    3) Trump is a horrible golfer. If you read any article about people that have played a round with Trump they all say Trump is awful and he CHEATS to boot!
    4) Obama could clean Trumps clock with one arm tied behind his back. Trump is a fat old sugar covered donut that Obama would make a quick snack of….

    • sarge22 says:

      Too funny. Cricket

    • CEI says:

None of your points will matter when Trump reigns in the EPA, IRS, DoJ and other out of control government agencies. Nor will they matter when Trump appoints federal judges and supreme court judges. I’m also fairly confident that none of your points will prevent Trump from enforcing immigration laws and repairing America’s standing in the world. He might even do away with the train wreck known as Barry Care in spite of your pointless rant.

      • hapaguy says:

I know that for you Trump supporters logic and comprehension are a difficult thing but I was responding to some of the fallacious statements made by the 1gnorant Trump supporters on here….if you try hard enough maybe you can keep up…..

        • CEI says:

Oooohhh, I get it now. Responses to fallacious statements. That one sailed right over my head.

Nevertheless Waldo lost and Barry al-Hussein’s agenda is consigned to the dustbin of history.

        • hapaguy says:

I’m glad that you were able to catch up. Did you have to Google fallacious to figure out what I was talking about? Those are some pretty bold predictions you’ve made. I have one for you: Putin’s biatch will be impeached and he won’t even serve a full term….

        • st1d says:

          tomayto, tomahto.

trump’s electoral landslide victory crushed clinton so thoroughly that even her spaghetti les team couldn’t put her together again.

keep up? by jan.20.2017, you and barry will populate the vanishing point of an already fading image in the rear view mirror.

        • hapaguy says:

std1 you’re a perfect example of a typical Trump supporter: never let the facts get in the way of a good lie….
