New stores, specialty shops and restaurants are set to open at Ka Makana Alii.

The Cheesecake Factory plans to open a second restaurant in Hawaii. The popular dining chain was announced as a future tenant of Ka Makana Ali‘i, a shopping center that opened last year in Kapolei.

Ka Makana’s developer, DeBartolo Development, said Cheesecake Factory will open late fall and has signed a lease to occupy a freestanding 8,000-square-foot space at the mall.

Also planning to open a store at Ka Makana is cosmetic retailer Sephora, DeBartolo said in its announcement. The Sephora store is scheduled to open late spring

“Ka Makana Ali‘i is proud to add popular, world-renowned brands like The Cheesecake Factory and Sephora to our premier roster of tenants, and there is no doubt that the people of West Oahu are just as excited,” Stephanie England, the mall’s general manager, said in a statement.

The first Cheesecake Factory in Hawaii opened in 2003 at Royal Hawaiian Center in Waikiki with nearly 600 seats.

Ka Makana has been gradually adding tenants since it opened its first phase in September and October with about half of its 100 store spaces filled.

New tenants being added to the mall this month include Wendy’s, Infinitea and GoWireless.
