Cal State Fullerton’s Chris Hudgins got a hit past Hawaii’s Jordan LaFave during the sixth inning.

The University of Hawaii baseball team lost a game, series and a chance to clinch a winning regular season.

No. 14 Cal State Fullerton defeated the ’Bows, 6-2, in the finale of this three-game Big West series. The teams had split the first two games.

The ’Bows fell to 25-17 overall and 7-8 in the Big West.

UH first baseman Eric Ramirez left the game in the sixth when he fell running to third on Johnny Week’s single to right. Ramirez, who was tagged out on the play, was replaced at first by Logan Pouelsen at the start of the seventh. After the game, Ramirez said he was “fine.”

Adam Fogel and Josh Rojas each hit bases-empty homers for the ’Bows. Dylan Vchulek extended his on-base streak to 42 games with a sixth-inning walk.

Blake Workman allowed one run in five innings to improve to 5-1.

Brett Conine pitched two scoreless innings for his 11th save.
