Big Isle woman shot in neck; suspect at large
Hawaii island police are investigating a shooting in Glenwood where a 21-year-old woman sustained a bullet wound to her neck.
Police responded to a single gunshot fired near the transfer station about 1 p.m. Saturday. Preliminary reports indicate the unknown suspect and victim may have been involved in an encounter prior to the shooting.
Police said the suspect fled in an unknown direction in a white-colored sedan. Fire rescue crews transported the victim to Hilo Medical Center in stable condition.
The investigation is ongoing.
