City unveils completed sand volleyball courts at Ala Moana

The city unveiled its newly completed, sand volleyball courts at Ala Moana Regional Park this morning.

Honolulu Mayor Kirk Caldwell, along with Jeff Hall, head coach of the University of Hawaii beach volleyball team and Kawika Freitas, president of the Hawaii Beach Volleyball Association, were on hand for the unveiling at the Ewa/Makai end of Ala Moana Regional Park.

The new courts are about 11,000 square feet, including a 15-foot safety zone with rubber curbing perimeter and permanent volleyball poles. In addition to the new volleyball courts, the renovation project also relocated existing boulders within the park, restored grass and added a new pathway connecting to the park’s path system.
