Hawaii senior middle Emily Maglio earned her third all-Big West Conference volleyball honor today, one of four Rainbow Wahine to be named to the first team.

Hawaii senior middle Emily Maglio earned her third all-Big West Conference volleyball honor today, one of four Rainbow Wahine to be named to the first team.

Joining Maglio are senior libero Savanah Kahakai, junior hitter McKenna Granato and sophomore setter Norene Iosia. It is the third first-team honor for Maglio and second for Iosia and Kahakai.

Cal Poly senior setter Taylor Nelson was named Player of the Year, the first Mustang to earn the honor since 2011.Sam Crosson, who led Cal Poly to its first conference title in 10 years, was named Coach of the Year. Freshman of the Year honors went to UC Davis hitter Mahalia White.

Cal Poly, 16-0 in the Big West, had five players named to the first team including sisters Adlee and Torrey Van Winden, the nieces of former Wahine Lisa Strand-Ma’a.

Hawaii had no players on the honorable mention or all-freshman teams. The Rainbow Wahine (20-7) make their 25th consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance on Friday, facing Illinois (21-10) in the first round at Seattle.
