Yes, we should honor our past. We should rebuild a memorial set back from Kaimana Beach that honors our soldiers who served in the First World War.
But demolish the broken pool and return the site to its natural sandy beach.
For we also must look to our future. Increasing sea level rise and tidal swells will batter and destroy any structure we build at that location. Rebuilding that pool, regardless of its design, will result in a great waste of money.
