Group rams front gate, sprays Puna property with bullets, Big Isle police say
Hawaii island police are investigating a bizarre incident that left a house and two vehicles damaged by gunshots in Puna.
Police said passing motorists in the Glenwood area alerted police to the incident at about 3:50 p.m. Tuesday and reported hearing about 20 gunshots and seeing some 6 people walking onto a property with at least one man holding a gun.
Responding officers couldn’t locate the home from the report, but about 40 minutes later, a 23-year-old Glenwood woman called police and said she was at home with her family and friends when a vehicle rammed her front gate and several people entered her property, firing multiple shots towards her home, police said.
Officers located the house and secured the area until detectives arrived.
Police said several people were at the home, but no one was injured.
Police opened a first-degree reckless endangering case and were investigating.
