Marion Walker doesn’t get it (“Housekeeper for Trump isn’t news,” Star-Advertiser, Letters, Dec. 12).
She wondered what is newsworthy about an undocumented immigrant who has worked as a housekeeper at President Donald Trump’s National Golf Club in Bedminster, N.J.
Since Walker apparently reads the newspaper, she must be aware that Trump has demonized undocumented immigrants and is trying as hard as he can to deport them. In fact, he signed an executive order nearly two years ago to deport all undocumented immigrants.
It is incongruous that Trump is employing one of them, according to the article that Walker commented on. Furthermore, it has been reported that Trump employs many undocumented immigrants in order to reduce his labor costs.
Trump once claimed that he could stand in the middle of Fifth Avenue in New York City and shoot someone, yet not lose any voters. He might be right.

A kinder, gentler time
In the spirit of this holiday season, and after what some consider a particularly divisive election year, we invite you, dear readers, to write in about kindness — something so special, touching or positive that it should be shared with our community.
Send a 150-word letter, or a commentary at 500-600 words, to letters@staradvertiser.com by Dec. 19 evening. A collection of these will run on Dec. 23, just before Christmas.
