The state Department of Health has issued a brown water advisory for Makao Beach in Hauula.

The advisory warns the public to stay out of coastal waters, which may be contaminated with stormwater runoff as a result of overflowing cesspools and manholes.

“Not all coastal areas may be impacted by runoff, however, if the water is brown stay out. Continue to practice good personal hygiene and follow-up with your primary care physician if you have any health concerns,” the advisory said.
