A group affiliated with the developer of the affluent Park Lane condominium project, where a recent sale was for more than $23 million, plans to make an acre of Ala Moana Regional Park across the street an amenity of the condo by installing playground equipment, pools and a zip line.

Park Lane should get a variance to put the playground on the condo roof. That acre at Ala Moana Park is needed for groups supporting major events like the Pet Walk, marathons and the lantern floating ceremony.

After a child falls off a playground zip line, parents who can afford to pay $23 million for an apartment can afford a high-priced attorney to sue the city for any injury to their child. Taxpayers can’t afford this.

The FBI that is reviewing the Katherine and Louis Kealoha case should investigate possible quid pro quo political contributions to city officials that are allowing this activity.
