Real Gastropub is now open at Keauhou Lane in Kakaako.
Real Gastropub reopened Friday in the Keauhou Lane complex in Kakaako. The original Real A Gastropub closed in 2017, a victim of redevelopment in Ward Villages.
Troy Terorotua is the owner of Real as well as Brew’d craft pub in Kaimuki.
It was supposed to be a “soft” opening, but by dinner time word had spread and the place was packed.
Troy Terorotua’s partner, Lisa Kim, greeted customers and helped serve on opening night.
Among dishes on the menu is a somen salad with marinated mushrooms and a soft-cooked egg.
Chicken kelaguen is a specialty from Guam, where Terorotua worked for several years as a chef for Sam Choy’s.
This sign could be Real’s mission statement.
Bent Tail Brewing Co. is the in-house brewery, named after Terorotua’s dog, born with a bent tail. The first beers are expected to be ready in two months.
Real is open 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 5 to 9 p.m. daily through Sunday, with hours expanding after that.
Real has 38 taps pouring an international selection of beers.
