Real Gastropub is now open at Keauhou Lane in Kakaako.
- Real Gastropub reopened Friday in the Keauhou Lane complex in Kakaako. The original Real A Gastropub closed in 2017, a victim of redevelopment in Ward Villages.
- Troy Terorotua is the owner of Real as well as Brew’d craft pub in Kaimuki.
- It was supposed to be a “soft” opening, but by dinner time word had spread and the place was packed.
- Troy Terorotua’s partner, Lisa Kim, greeted customers and helped serve on opening night.
- Among dishes on the menu is a somen salad with marinated mushrooms and a soft-cooked egg.
- Chicken kelaguen is a specialty from Guam, where Terorotua worked for several years as a chef for Sam Choy’s.
- This sign could be Real’s mission statement.
- Bent Tail Brewing Co. is the in-house brewery, named after Terorotua’s dog, born with a bent tail. The first beers are expected to be ready in two months.
- Real is open 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 5 to 9 p.m. daily through Sunday, with hours expanding after that.
- Real has 38 taps pouring an international selection of beers.
