Another example of poor planning on the part of the state Department of Transportation (“Flying for spring break? Don’t count on airport parking,” Star-Advertiser, March 21).
Instead of expanding the existing parking structure or making an additional parking structure, DOT decided to build a rent-a-car center in the limited space available at the airport.
Most major airports, including those in Las Vegas and San Diego, have shuttles to an off-site rent-a-car facility.
When DOT’s rental car facility is completed, we’ll have a greater bottleneck at the airport, with visitors picking up and dropping off cars and the locals trying to drop off and pick up family members and the poor folks hoping and praying they can find parking.
