Shooting suspect found dead on roadway near Wahiawa is identified
The Honolulu Medical Examiner’s Office ruled the death of a 30-year-old man, whose body was found in the middle of a roadway outside Wahiawa, as a suicide.
The Medical Examiner’s Office identified him as Dallas Kaahanui of Wahiawa, and said he died of a gunshot wound to the head.
A California couple told police the man jumped in front of a van they were driving behind while heading south on Kamehameha Highway, and made demands while pointing a firearm at them.
They allege he shot once and struck the 34-year-old wife, who was driving.
The couple pulled over and called 911 to report what happened, police said.
Emergency Medical Services transported her in stable condition to Wahiawa General Hospital.
