I’d like to hear more from Honolulu City Councilmember Kymberly Marcos Pine on how she would reduce homelessness in her district if given $2.3 million by “repurposing funds” (“Council has plans for homeless funds,” Star-Advertiser, Letters, April 7).
She lives just a few blocks away from Oneula Beach Park, which has a large homeless population that is increasing and becoming more aggressive in its conduct. It’s been there and grown over Pine’s six years in office.
Providing hygiene centers, laundry facilities and restrooms will only make homelessness more convenient and acceptable.
Now that Pine has established her campaign committee to run for mayor, she suddenly has become an expert on how the city can solve longstanding problems. Let’s see some details on solutions to reduce homelessness, and not just criticism of the current mayor.
