As scientific research continues to highlight the dire consequences of climate change, I agree with the letter commending our representatives in Congress for tackling climate change at the national level (“Congressional reps take lead on climate change,” Star-Advertiser, Letters, April 3): from U.S. Sen. Brian Schatz as chairman of the Senate Democrats’ Special Committee on the Climate Crisis, to U.S. Sen. Mazie Hirono introducing the U.S. Women and Climate Change Act, to U.S. Rep. Tulsi Gabbard introducing the Off Fossil Fuels For A Better Future Act, to U.S. Rep. Ed Case supporting incentives to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
To combine these different efforts into a focused, effective and bipartisan effort, I urge our congressional members to join the more than 100,000 members of Citizens’ Climate Lobby (CCL) and support the Energy Innovation and Carbon Dividend Act.
CCL has been working on legislation for more than a decade, resulting in a bipartisan bill currently in the House (HR 763).
We encourage our senators to co-sponsor the Senate version of carbon fee and dividend when it’s introduced.
