Drivers should anticipate delays due to detours, lane and road closures, and allow extra travel time while driving through the work area.

Paving work for a seven-block stretch of Kalihi street — from Nimitz Highway to Auiki Street — is scheduled to begin on Monday morning, city officials said.

Allowable work hours are from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Mondays through Fridays. Barring weather-related delays, the paving is expected to be completed within 30 days.

Drivers should anticipate delays due to detours, lane and road closures, and allow extra travel time while driving through the work area. They should also observe and obey all traffic controls, posted signs and special duty officers. On-street parking will be prohibited during working hours. Illegally parked vehicles may be towed, if necessary, at the owner’s expense.

Questions or concerns regarding residential traffic and access to local businesses can be directed to Maui Kupono Builders LLC at 727-9144.
