Much has been written about the fact that what happens at an early age affects the child forever. Parents often read to their kids every day. Having a public library card gives access to all circulating items in 51 collections.
Is there a “snowball’s chance” of adding one more public library? The high-density Makiki area is without. News published in May 2018 told us this 42-year-old “institute of community service,” Makiki Community Library, was scheduled to close the following month (“Makiki Community Library will close June 9,” Star-Advertiser, May 28, 2018).
The building stands empty. Auwe!
