I agree with Louise Johnson, who was quoted as saying that “the state has completely mishandled the situation” (“TMT supporters rally at the Capitol,” Star-Advertiser, July 26).
Our do-nothing governor, “Doomsday David” Ige, turns over “negotiations” to Hawaii County Mayor Harry Kim, who has no authority. I suppose this will allow Ige to blame Kim if things don’t work out. Well, they won’t because the anti-Thirty Meter Telescope leader vows, “We are not willing to negotiate.”
It is disgraceful that Ige allows a bunch of bullies to dictate what happens, against the will of 75% to 80% of our population, including Hawaiians. He needs to do what he should have done on Day One: Clear the road so the lawful construction of TMT can commence.
