According to the Star-Advertiser, “(Mayor Kirk) Caldwell said there are few U.S. cities that provide bulky item pickup, and none that he knows of do it at no additional charge to taxpayers” (“Bulky item pickup program improving, Caldwell announces,” Star-Advertiser, Aug. 13).
On Wednesday, Christine Donnelly answered a question by providing statistics on 30 U.S. cities that also picked up their residents’ bulky waste (“64% of U.S. cities in audit do at least some bulky pickup for free,” Star-Advertiser, Kokua Line, Aug. 14). Apparently the public can read this audit on the city auditor’s website, at 808ne.ws/audit.
Can you ask the mayor if he has bothered to check his own city’s website for information?
I live in Foster Village. If the mayor would venture this far out from city center (and Waikiki) he might find that the new system is not working that well.
