I had to laugh at the article that said Mayor Kirk Caldwell sees the new bulky trash system as improving (“Bulky item pickup program improving, Caldwell announces,” Star-Advertiser, Aug. 13).
If it weren’t for the picture showing mayor standing in front of a pile of trash, it would seem he doesn’t live in the same city as the people who try to use the system.
Since July 17, I have attempted to schedule an appointment to have our bulky trash picked up. I have tried online, phone calls and emails. Online, I was given a date of Aug. 22, but was unable to confirm because we are a multi-family property. I have left a few phone messages (when you can get through) and have heard nothing back from the city.
This morning, while composing this letter, I called the 768-3200 number. It rang 25 times and then, nothing.
Yes, that is probably a success for this mayor. He couldn’t hear any complaints.
