A Honolulu Fire Department investigator has classified a Punchbowl apartment fire as undetermined.

The fire broke out at about 11:54 p.m. at 510 Captain Cook Avenue, on the second floor of a two-story apartment building.

HFD said no specific point of origin could be determined due to the severity of the damage.

No one was at home at the time of the fire and no injuries were reported. Two adults were displaced by the fire.

The fire on Monday caused an estimated $140,000 in damage to the structure and $8,000 to its contents.

HFD said although progress was slowed by hoarder conditions, six units with 22 personnel brought the fire under control by 12:09 a.m., within 10 minutes after the first unit’s arrival.

HFD describes hoarder conditions as when an excessive accumulation of items are stored in a dwelling, which can make it difficult during a fire to enter and exit the residence and dangerous for occupants and firefighters.
