Officers and trustees of the See Dai Doo Society attend a groundbreaking for the society’s new building at
Fort and Kukui streets in Chinatown. High priest See Hop Lee officiated at the ceremony, which included
cleansing the property of evil spirits and dedicating the three-story, 7,000-square-foot building in the
time-honored Chinese manner.

restaurant atop the Ala Moana Building. The revolving restaurant will extend 16 feet beyond the edge of
the building’s 23rd floor. In the background is the Kapiolani Drive-In Theater, which was Hawaii’s first
drive-in theater when it opened in 1949 and which was closed and demolished in 1962.
