HFD extinguishes fire at high-rise building on South King Street

Honolulu firefighters extinguished a residential high-rise building fire this afternoon on South King Street.
The Honolulu Fire Department received a 911 call at 3:08 p.m. today for a fire at 1239 South King St., and sent six units staffed with 22 personnel, according to a news release. Google Maps identifies the building as Wisteria Vista.
The first unit arrived five minutes later to find an eight-story building with no visible smoke or flames. Firefighters discovered fire on the seventh floor and began attacking the fire.
Two residents, a man and a woman in their 60s, were extricated and transferred to the care of Honolulu Emergency Medical Services.
The fire was deemed under control and extinguished at 3:38 p.m.
An investigation is underway to determine the fire’s origin, cause and damage estimates.
