In a press conference at the City Prosecutor'ss office in 2017, the Prosecuting Attorney for the City and County of Honolulu, Keith Kaneshiro, announced that the city will prosecute Christopher Deedy for the third time. That was in response to the Supreme Court clearing way for third prosecution of Christopher Deedy as the Hawaii Supreme Court denied today an appeal by Deedy. The Prosecutor's office plans to try federal agent Christopher Deedy a third time in the shooting death of Kollin Elderts at a Waikiki McDonald's.
