Smoke was seen wafting from a brushfire on a hillside above Palolo Valley Thursday afternoon.

Firefighters will watch over a Palolo ridge brush fire that flared up Thursday night after burning two acres.

The brush fire broke out at about 2:59 p.m. Thursday at the center ridge in Palolo Valley.

Firefighters arrived on scene at 3:08 a.m., and contained it at 5:43 p.m.

The fire was called extinguished at 6:35 p.m.

Seven fire companies, Air 1, and a total of 16 fire personnel responded to the blaze.

Capt. David Jenkins said no structures were threatened, and no one was injured.

Jenkins said it was too dangerous to deal with the flareups at night, but firefighters were standing watch in case the blaze grew larger.
