Enjoy good wine and learn from the experts at the Honolulu Wine Festival on Aug. 28 at Hawaii Prince Hotel.

The event, a fundraiser for Lupus Hawaii, will include nine wine stations staffed by Marvin Chang (R. Field Wine Co.), Terry Kakazu (HASR), Ryan Nomura (Chambers & Chambers), Patrick Okubo (Formaggio), Mark Shishido (Alan Wong’s), Warren Shon (Southern Wines & Spirits), Don Thompson (Grand Crew/Better Brands), Mark Yamasaki (Ciao Mein) and master sommelier Roberto Viernes.

But what’s wine without food? The fest will include 10 "live" cooking stations, featuring food from Big City Diner, Formaggio, Hawaii Prince, Hilo Seaside Restaurant, Hiroshi Eurasion Tapas, Nico’s, R. Field Wine Co., Sansei Seafood Restaurant & Sushi Bar, Stage and VINO, with desserts by Hokulani and Sweet Marie’s.

The event begins at 6:30 p.m. Cost is $125.

Prior to the evening festivities, 20 wine lovers can participate in a 2007 pinot noir tasting, which starts at 4:30 p.m.

The tasting will feature 11 wines from California, including Au Bon Climat "Isabelle," Brewer Clifton "Mount Carmel," Costa de Oro "Dijon Clones," Kosta Browne "Kanzler Vineyard," Melville, Patz & Hall "Hyde Vineyard," Samsara Melville Vineyard, Scherrer and others. Plus, one pinot noir from Oregon — Evening Land "La Source Seven Springs."
