PEARL NOW OPEN: Every season, diners look forward to the opening of The Pearl, Leeward Community College’s fine-dining restaurant, which supports the work of advanced culinary students in cooking, baking, special events planning and dining room management. The Pearl is open to the public on a limited basis each semester, with a menu of contemporary cuisine. "LIQUID ALOHA BREWERS DINNER": The Mauna Kea Beach Hotel and Kona Brewing Company will host a special dinner from 6 to 9 p.m. Sept. 24. Seven food stations will be offering such dishes as kalua pig "Mauna Kea" with bao bun, fried green tomato sliders, coco loco braised shortribs, artisan desserts and more, with unlimited drinks, all for $40.
