The National Weather Service has canceled flash flood warnings for Maui and the Big Island.

The flash flood warning for Maui expired at 7:37 p.m., and the Big Island flood advisory ended at 7 p.m.

On Maui, spotters reported flash flooding from heavy rain near mile marker six on Hana Highway, the Weather Service said.

Radar also indicated rainfall rates of 1 to 3 inches per hour from Hookipa Beach Park to Huelo and Nahiku.

Other locations in the warning include Kahakuloa, Waihee, Paia, Haiku, Keanae, and Nahiku.

A flash flood warning means flash flooding is imminent or occurring in streams, roads, and low-lying areas. People should move to higher ground now and avoid crossing fast flowing or rising water, the Weather Service said. 

Runoff from this storm may also cause rock and mudslides.

On the Big Island, rain gauges show rainfall of one to three inches in the Kau District.

A flood advisory means conditions exist that may lead to flooding.
