Date postponed for Bruno Mars drug charge in Vegas

LAS VEGAS — Singer Bruno Mars’ court date on a Las Vegas cocaine charge has been postponed to Feb. 4.

The 25-year-old Grammy nominee didn’t appear in person Tuesday while his lawyer asked a Las Vegas judge to let Mars’ Los Angeles lawyer take part in the case.

Mars’ real name is Peter Hernandez.

He’s facing a felony drug possession charge following his arrest after a Sept. 19 Las Vegas nightclub performance.

Police say he had 2.6 grams of cocaine. He could face up to four years in prison if convicted.

Mars is nominated for seven Grammies as a singer, writer and producer on hits including Travie McCoy’s "Billionaire," B.o.B’s "Nothin’ on You," and Mars’ own "Just the Way You Are."

The Grammy Awards are scheduled Feb. 13 in Los Angeles.
