Flights from mainland scheduled to resume after yesterday’s cancellations

Flights from Chicago and Newark are scheduled to resume today after being canceled yesterday because of snow and ice caused by a massive storm over the Midwest yesterday.

A state Department of Transportation spokesman said United Flight 1 out of Chicago is still scheduled to arrive at 3:06 p.m. this afternoon and Continental Flight 15 is scheduled to arrive at 5:45 p.m. from Newark.

United Flight 1 was delayed yesterday because of weather and the return flight to Chicago was canceled, the state Transportation Department reported. Both the arriving and departing flights to Newark were canceled yesterday.

The flight tracking service FlightAware logged nearly 6,000 cancellations yesterday. The delays and cancellations continue today.

More than 5,500 flights in or out of the U.S. were canceled as of 11 a.m. today, according to FlightAware.
