Boy escapes serious injury when hit by car

A 13-year-old boy sustained abrasions when he was hit by a car that ran a red light Tuesday morning in Pearl City, police said.

The driver was traveling toward Waianae on Farrington Highway in the right lane about 6:20 a.m. and went through a red light at Pupupuhi Street, police said.

The car hit the boy, who was wearing dark clothes and crossing makai-bound in the crosswalk. He was taken to Hawaii Medical Center West in good condition with abrasions to his left arm and left leg.

The driver was not arrested.
