UH baseball: ‘Bows take 2-1 series lead

Lenny Linsky earned his second save in as many days and Michael Blake hit the go-ahead RBI single in the eighth as Hawaii held on to defeat Loyola Marymount 9-7 this afternoon at Page Stadium in Los Angeles.

Hawaii (5-5) rallied from a 5-0 deficit in the fifth and took the lead for good with three runs in the eighth.

Matt Harrison had his first two hits of the season and scored three runs for the Rainbows. Zack Swasey had three hits to extend his hitting streak to nine games.

Bret Dahlson hit a two-run double and had three RBIs for the Lions (8-4).

Blair Walters (3-1) allowed one hit in 2 2/3 innings to earn the win and Lenny Linsky pitched a scoreless ninth to earn his third save.

LMU sophomore Zac Fujimoto, a 2008 Maryknoll graduate, started in center field and finished 1-for-2 with two runs scored and an RBI before he was lifted for a pinch-hitter in the eighth.

Randy Yard pitched for UH for the first time and allowed three hits and two runs in two innings with no walks and three strikeouts.

Alex Capaul started for UH and gave up seven hits and five runs in 3 1/3 innings.

The four-game series concludes tomorrow at 11 a.m.
