Man charged in 3 bank robberies

A 26-year-old man has been arrested and charged with robbing three banks from October through February, police said.

Eugene Fulks was charged with robbing the Ewa Beach branch of Bank of Hawaii on Oct. 29, the Waipahu branch of American Savings Bank on Jan. 12 and the Pearlridge branch of Bank of Hawaii on Feb. 8, police said.

He was arrested Friday in Waipahu.

Teen to be tried as adult in stabbing

Authorities charged a Kaimuki teenage yesterday with second-degree attempted murder, accusing him of stabbing a classmate in a Kalani High School classroom last year.

Family Court waived jurisdiction yesterday over the suspect, Zoe Michael Espinola, now 18, police said, and he will be tried as an adult.

Police arrested Espinola yesterday at Oahu Community Correctional Center where he was being held. Students described the two students as best friends and members of the swim team and said the stabbing was possibly due to a dispute over a girl.

The stabbing occurred at 8:50 a.m. May 18 during a math class. Espinola, then 17, allegedly pulled out a large knife and stabbed the then 16-year-old boy multiple times in the torso and inflicted knife wounds to his face. The injuries left the 16-year-old boy in serious condition.

Police arrested Espinola on suspicion of second-degree murder after he turned himself in at the school’s administration office.

Espinola’s bail was set at $100,000.
