Rainbows blast Shockers

Hawaii put on its biggest offensive show of the season, pounding Wichita State 12-4 in a college baseball game Friday at Les Murakami Stadium.

It was the most runs in a game for the Rainbows this season, who improved to 13-14. The Shockers fell to 18-10.

Wichita State took a 2-0 lead in the second inning, but UH scored seven in the fourth and four in the fifth.

Michael Blake led off the fourth with a single and later in the inning hit a run-scoring double as UH sent 11 batters to the plate.

The fifth inning rally featured Kolten Wong’s two-run homer, his fourth of the season.

Wong produced a career-high 5 RBIs.

Randy Yard (1-0) got the win with five innings of high-quality relief, yielding just one run, which was unearned. He allowed just two hits, struck out seven and walked one.

Breland Almadova and Wong each had three of the Rainbows’ 13 hits.
