Air Force still investigating cause of aborted flight

Air Force officials are still investigating the cause of an aborted Saturday Hawaii-to-Guam military flight that forced a KC-10 to return to Honolulu, Air Force spokeswoman Maj. Alysia Harvey said.

Because the investigation continues, Harvey said he could not say whether fuel was dumped into the ocean before landing.

The aircraft, which suffered a malfunction in one of its three engines, landed without incident at 11:48 a.m. Saturday but did not experience a fire as described in some initial news reports, Harvey said.

Some 20 people were aboard when the emergency landing occurred at Honolulu Airport.
